"Caminada Intrenacional de Barcelona" was the Spanish IML march that toke place in and around Barcelona.

The first day of the march started in the early morning while it was still dark, making wayfinding challenging, especially walking on narrow goat paths with loose stones, adding an element of excitement to the journey...

The initial ascent of the route, which marked the beginning, extended 12 km along the route, showcasing beautiful mountain terrain with a fantastic view overlooking Barcelona. The remainder of the route consisted of urban walking back to the starting area.

The second day of the march began with a city walk down to the Mediterranean where participants strolled a couple of kilometers along the water. Following that, hikers ascended into the mountains again, admiring the splendid city views once more.

At the rest stops, various snacks and water were provided. However, there was no option to purchase soft drinks or beer, not even in the finishing area! Most walkers resolved this by stopping at some of the numerous small pubs along the routes.

The march took place in a beautiful area with plenty to see. Barcelona itself is marked by the ongoing struggle for independence, evident with numerous flags and graffiti everywhere, which somewhat dampens the atmosphere...

The march is well-organized and recommended to participate in; however, consideration must be taken regarding the general situation in this part of Spain!

In 2021, unfortunately, the board of directors for this march decided to withdraw from IML in response to the approval of the "Dutch" four-day march in Marbella, a very regrettable situation!
