Flyermarch

In early September 2021, the Royal Danish Air Force conducted the first "Flyermarch" at Karup Air Base.

Around 800 Defense personnel and volunteers from the Home Guard participated in this inaugural event.

The "Flyvermarch" has since become an annual tradition in the Air Force where it is usually kicked off by the Sergeant major of the Air Force and the Commander of the Danish Air Force.

Personnel deployed by the Danish Air Force on international missions have the opportunity to complete their "Flyermarch" in the mission area - this has led to an annual participation of around 1100 individuals from the Danish Defense and Home Guard.

The "Flyvermarch" can only be carried out once a year at Karup Air Base in Denmark at the end of August and by Danish Air Force units deployed on international missions.

In 2025, the event expanded to allow personnel from allied nations to host local versions of the "Flyvermarch" at their respective garrisons, attracting a significant number of participants from the United States.

This global involvement led to the "Flyvermarch" becoming the largest military walking event worldwide, with over 42,000 participants!

The "Flyvermarch" has garnered international attention for its unique blend of military tradition and community building. Participants from various countries now join in this show of solidarity and strength, showcasing the camaraderie among military forces worldwide.
Over the years, the event has not only grown in size but also in significance, symbolizing unity and cooperation across borders. It serves as a reminder of the shared values and commitment to peacekeeping efforts upheld by the participating nations.
The "Flyvermarch" has become a symbol of excellence and dedication, highlighting the professionalism and esprit de corps prevalent among military personnel across different nations. The annual event continues to foster goodwill and mutual respect among participants, strengthening bonds and fostering a sense of global partnership.
