4° édition de la marche de l'amitié Franco-Allemande

2025 begins! And like every year for the past 4 years, we are celebrating the Franco-German day of
January 22 with a connected walking challenge, from January 22 to February 9.
Like last year, there will be 2 possible options:
19 km or 63 km, in reference to the year of signing of the Elysée Treaty.
This year, we wanted to mark this anniversary by creating a medal, which reflects the characteristics of this event, with a specific ribbon.

The methods of obtaining are as follows:

- cover a minimum distance of 63km in 2025 (in 7 times maximum)
Or
- having participated in the 63km walk of the 2024 Franco-German challenge,
Or
- have participated in the 60km walk of the “Treaty of the Elysée” 2023 challenge,

Or
- have participated in 3 Franco-German walking events since 2022, less than 60km:
example: 7km in 2022 + 19km in 2024 + 19km in 2025.
You can also request your medal, without participating in 2025, if you completed the 60km in 2023,
or the 63km in 2024. Contact marches@cssd.fr
The fabric patch is still available, with the option of putting a number on it, for all distances (long or
short), since 2022.

Challenge connecté des Mousquetaires

In 1622, Louis XIII, then at war with the Protestants, detached the fifty carabins of the company of light horses from his guard, to form an independent unit. These soldiers were armed with the musket, which could only be used onfoot, but remained horsemen who moved on horseback.
Called the king's musketeers, they received the famous blue tunic decorated with fleur-de-lis crosses, a sign of their belonging to the Sovereign's Household, and were entrusted with a wide variety of missions: escorts of the royal procession, police andlaw enforcement operations, but above all they were in the front rank of the royal troops when it came to taking a besieged place.

In the eighteenth century, the main part of their mission consisted of a guard service and prestige for the sovereign. They experienced fire one last time during the War of the Austrian Succession.

In 1775, the two companies were abolished for economic reasons. Briefly recreated under the
Restoration, they disappeared definitively in 1816.

80ème anniversaire de la Bataille des Ardennes

In December 1944, while they had advanced as far as the Belgian Ardennes, the Allied troops were completely surprised by three German divisions. This was the start of the Ardennes Offensive, known as the Battle of the Bulge, considered the Wehrmacht's last desperate attempt to penetrate Allied lines. This battle lasted six weeks, from December 16 to January 25, and resulted in numerous losses on both sides.

As part of its commemorative and sporting activities, the CSSD is initiating a connected walking challenge, over the period from December 16, 2024 to January 12, 2025.

Two possible options:

  • Short: 10 km in December and 10 km in January.
  • Long: 80 km in 10 outings maximum. Minimum per outing: 5km

The challenge

Although many commemorations and marches recall this tragic event, and especially in the United States each year, the CSSD will commemorate this 80th anniversary with a connected walk, over the same period, and over the same maximum distance.

However, two intermediate courses have been added, a marathon and a half-marathon.

Also wishing to "impregnate" the rigour and suffering of the event, constraints were imposed on these last two distances:

For the 13.1 miles, it must be completed in 2 consecutive days.

For the 26.2 miles, in 5 days, including 2 consecutive days.

Each outing must be at least 8 km long to be counted.

Marche commémorative de Bataan (80ème anniversaire)

History

The Bataan Death March took place in the Philippines from April 9 to April 17, 1942, and was later counted as one of Japan's war crimes.

The forced march involved 70,000 to 85,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war captured by the Imperial Japanese Army after the three-month Battle of Bataan, which was itself an episode of the Battle of the Philippines during the Pacific War.

The march, 97 km long, started from Cabcaben, on the Bataan Peninsula, to the O'Donnell internment camp. For the prisoners, this ordeal consisted of an almost permanent march, day and night, without food and with very little water, physical violence, murder and other acts of savagery or sadism perpetrated by Japanese soldiers all along the way. Any prisoner who stopped or complained was executed.

The exact number of deaths is impossible to determine, but some historians have indicated a minimum of 6,000 to 11,000 deaths. The official U.S. Army report put the number at about 23,500, including 22,000 Filipinos, out of 78,000 prisoners. To these figures must be added the number of deaths in the days following the arrival in the camps.

The Commemorative Medal

Duty of Remembrance and Sports Activity

Since November 11, 2018, the CSSD has been initiating so-called "commemorative" or "remembrance" marches on events related to our history.
In 2020, and following the health crisis, our walking activity was redesigned, so as to walk "at the same time, for the same cause", but each in their own region, a concept that we will call "in situ" (on site).
Thus, it was decided to commemorate each year with this principle of marching,
• November 11th,
• May 8th,
• June 6th,
• July 14th.
From time to time, or on certain five-year anniversaries, other commemorations may be held (e.g. 80 years of the appeal of 18 June, 75 years of the UN, Challenge Napoléon, etc.).
These walks, accessible to all from 5 km, can be included in our cssd-walk-program in accordance with para-graph V, and entitle you to a numbered certificate of participation, with the option of a souvenir pin.

The commemorative medal:
It can be requested from the completion of 5 commemorative walks (in situ or not), with a minimum of 50 km covered.
From 10 steps, a white enamelled star may be requested, at 20 a bronze star, at 30 a silver star, 40 a gold star, 50 a bronze palm.

Challenges mensuels ‘in situ’

After the success of our connected activities (in-situ) in 2020, it was decided to reward this commitment in a different way. Thus, it will be possible for any walker, runner, or cyclist to ask to receive an evolving medal, depending on the number of activities carried out.

PRINCIPLE:

  1. Only "in-situ" activities organized by the CSSD, or exceptionally in partnership, since May 8, 2020, will be taken into account, excluding steps that are part of the validation of the "commemorative medal".
  2. Have a total of 10 activities totalling a minimum of 100 km.
  3. No notion of season or year, the program is "as it goes.
  4. An E-diploma will accompany each medal.

PROGRESS:

On this medal, for every 10 activities, a number may be affixed, on request, "2" for 20, "3" for 30 ... with a new E-certificate. The application form in the appendix is to be sent only by email. (*) Multi-day challenges are considered as a total distance

Programme de Marches Virtuelles Européennes (PMVE)

European Virtual Walks (EVMP) Program

In 2020, the CSSD launched its first connected walks, associating each walk with a historical, commemorative or anniversary theme, accompanied by a certificate and sometimes an award.

Success has encouraged us to continue, going through the pandemic on this occasion

Covid prevented us from carrying out physical walks, at our level but also internationally, such as the IML.

Some themes were charitable and raised funds for noble causes.

Our marches were soon a great success abroad, first in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and then in many other European countries, perpetuating our motto 'challenges unite us' in another form.

So, to celebrate your commitment to these participations in our own way, we are launching a European global award, specifically recapitulating 3 years of connected activities (2020-2022).

This award, materialized by a medal, will symbolize the number of countries in which each candidate has participated virtually only, under certain conditions. It is useless to declare several markets in the same country. (4 countries = number 4, ect ...)

The applicant's country of origin is allowed.

CSSD events count for 'France'.

The award is offered to paying members of the CSSD.

It is available to non-contributors, for a fee.

This program is one-off and limited in time. It will end on 31/12/2022, the deadline for single order applications.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To apply, all you have to do is make a request, annotating the countries concerned in the form and attaching proof (certificate issued), or screenshot of an 'Online' results table with visible distance travelled.

  • Minimum distance taken into account: 10km
  • Minimum number of countries: 4

National marches (in Europe) that have been cancelled and turned into a connected event, or specific event created by an association/organization in the country in question, are valid.

The following are not taken into account:

- Walks carried out via organisations specialising in the organisation of connected challenges (e.g. Virtual runners, Ace races, the conquerors events, etc.)

- The permanent routes of the IVV, or any other 'personal' walk, even with GPS tracks.

- Participations in a 'face-to-face' event.

After making a request using the online form, you will receive a confirmation or not of the validity of the declared contracts.

THE REWARD

A digital certificate, numbered, listing the countries for each participant.

A medal, yellow/blue ribbon (Europe), on which will appear a number on a location point symbol, recalling the number of countries, and a medallion on which we find the map of Europe, the inscriptions in English of our motto, the name of the challenge in question, the period of the pandemic considered 2020-2022, and a part of the virus, targeting the root cause.

75° anniversaire des Soldats de la paix

75 years ago, the UN created the multinational force of Peacekeepers.

Since 1948, more than one million 'peacekeepers', men and women, have served the cause of the United Nations, whether military, police or civilian.
More than 4,000 of them have lost their lives while serving under the United Nations flag.

29 May is recognized as 'International Peacekeepers' Day, and aims to honour the memory of those who have lost their lives in the service of peace, and to pay tribute to all those, men and women, who have served and continue to serve in UN peacekeeping operations for their professionalism, their dedication and courage.

As part of its themed activities, the CSSD is initiating a challenge for this 75th anniversary,

Monthly challenge, from 1 to 29 May, 75 km in 10 outings.

Marche connectée des 75 ans de l’OTAN

On April 4, 1949, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization was officially created, a politico-military organization set up by the signatory countries of the North Atlantic Treaty in order to fulfill their collective security and defense obligations. It is most often referred to by its acronym NATO (NATO).

POLITICS – NATO works to promote democratic values and enables its members to consult and cooperate on defence and security issues in order to solve problems, build trust and, in the long term, prevent conflict.

MILITARY – NATO is committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes. If diplomatic efforts fail, it has the military power to undertake crisis management operations. These are carried out pursuant to the collective defence clause of the founding treaty, Article 5 of the Washington Treaty, or under a mandate from the United Nations, by NATO alone or in cooperation with non-member countries or other international organisations.

On 7 March 2024, in a tense international context, Sweden joined the alliance after Finland in 2023, becoming the 32nd member state.

As part of its commemorative and sporting activities, the CSSD is initiating a 'connected' walking challenge, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of NATO.

Challenges The 10th anniversary of the CSSD

To end season 10, and 'celebrate' the 10th anniversary of the CSSD, a connected challenge is proposed, including walking/running, cycling or swimming + an option for validation on qualifications.

The Goal: (2 options)

Option I: Connected Challenge

10 outings in the month, with a minimum of 5km 'walked or run' per outing, 10km by bike, and 100m by swimming (cumulative at 200/day), i.e. 1000m over the month. (It is possible to mix and match activities).

It is a question of doing 10 outings, and not, for example, of doing a 50km walk in 1 day and finishing the challenge! Proof of activity by GPS track.

Proof of swimming by MNS certificate, model for justification in the pool: Proof of swimming pool

At stake, a medal, offered to up-to-date members.

Option II: Validation on credentials

At the same time, this anniversary medal may be awarded on presentation of 10 titles or qualifications obtained exclusively with the CSSD, out of all the diplomas we have offered since June 1, 2013 to date. (See appendix)

(A certificate obtained several years counts only One, Ditto for shooting, only one diploma quoted validable, even if obtained with pistol and rifle)

Note:The supporting files (copies of diplomas only) must be sent as a single PDF document, grouping together the 10 titles obtained, CSSD.

30ème anniversaire de la fin de la guerre froide

Médaille pour Le Programme Annuel de Marche

This program takes into account organized walks such as those of the International Marching League, the IVV, the CSSD, hiking clubs or other organized events. Distances only count from 10kms.

The program is based on a system of "distance loops
" made according to the distance traveled.
For short distances, between 5 and 14.9 km,
validated on organized events, the accumulation will be made over
the year, then will be divided by 35 to assign an
equivalence in loops.
Participation in the walking program takes the form
ofa diploma, and a medal from the second
loop acquired. The diploma shows the number of
loops and kilometres reached, and is cumulative with previous
years.
The application for validation is made by year (season),
between 1 and 30 September, for walks carried out
from the previous September to August of the year in question.
