Deutsch-Französische Freundschaftswanderung

The German-French Friendship Hiking commemorates the 1963 treaty between General Charles de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer. To celebrate this anniversary, the Hiking Department of MTV Aurich, together with CSSD, our French sports friends, organizinged a special hike. Between January 14 and 29, a total of 60 km had to be covered. The route was divided into a maximum of 6 tours, each with a minimum length of 10 km.

Hiking in nature not only provides physical exercise but also offers the opportunity to form new friendships and experience cultural exchange. Events like this strengthen and promote German-French cooperation by bringing people together.

Participants of all age groups are invited to take part in this hike to honor the historical significance of the German-French relations and further deepen the friendship between the countries. It is a chance to wake together, chat, and enjoy nature.

Airborne-Marsch Wesel

The event serves as a reminder of how precious and fragile peace in Europe is and that we should never take it for granted. Centered around the 18th Airborne Corps, which participated in the Varsity airborne operation on March 24, 1945, with a force of 14,000 soldiers. This day commemorates both the casualties on the German side and the innocent civilian population who lost their lives in these tragic events. More than 6,000 soldiers and civilians paid the ultimate price for freedom on this fateful day. It is up to us to always keep their sacrifice in mind and to firmly advocate for lasting harmony and unity in Europe.

„Marsch der Wertschätzung“ – für unsere Einsatzkräfte

The emergency services of the Federal Republic of Germany risk their health and lives at home and abroad for the good of our society. These are people who, through their service, make a valuable contribution to preserving our democracy. They support civil society in exceptional situations and find themselves caught up in them every single day. These citizens in uniform are increasingly confronted with violence and disrespect. Rescue workers and firefighters are prevented from saving lives, and together with soldiers and police officers, they become targets for the frustration of a society that is increasingly losing touch with its fellow citizens in uniform. Instead of openness and appreciation, rejection and even physical attacks characterize their daily work.

The March of Appreciation is aimed at the democratic forces of society. All civilians, civil and state institutions, and all emergency services personnel from various sectors are invited.

Stop those people who are contributing to the increasing division of society.

would like to oppose it.

"Greetings to the Free Frisians - Eala Frya Fresena"

What is the Frisian Freedom?

In East Frisia, the greeting still holds true: "Eala Frya Fresena - Greetings to you free Frisians." The "Frisian Freedom" is considered the uniqueness of East Frisia. In the Middle Ages, it was a remarkable model in contrast to the feudal societal structure of the rest of Europe. Since the 9th century, East Frisia held a special status within the Holy Roman Empire, a privilege that continues to reflect the characteristic feature of the land and its people to this day.

The rural communities developed strategies to defend Frisian freedom and established their own legal system. The Upstalsboom monument near Aurich serves as a reminder of their ancient assembly place. The Upstalsboom monument stands as the symbol of Frisian freedom.

Upstalsboom - Friesische Freiheit

The Frisian Freedom is considered a unique aspect of East Frisia to this day. During the Middle Ages, from the 11th to the 14th century, it represented a distinct societal structure in contrast to the rest of feudal Europe. It symbolized the alliance of independent local communities along the Frisian coast. Their freely elected representatives typically gathered on the Tuesday after Pentecost, known as Oll' Mai, at Upstalsboom in Rahe near Aurich to ensure justice and freedom for all Frisians. The distinctive features of the Frisian Freedom included: no military service, right to property, political participation, and personal liberty.
